Just the right size! I just can't say enough about this webcam, best buy ever.USB\VID_045E&PID_075D Windows 8.1 Drivers I thought it was going to be bigger than what it was, but it's cute and small. You can put it on your computer or just simple sit it up! Great! It tood me minutes to set up! I was on skpe in no time! I only had a problem with skpe recognizing the microphone, but once i realize i had to set the program to the webcam mic, it worked just perfect. I could not believe how easy the set up was.
Let me tell you, Microsoft did very a good job. I have a desk top also that way I can transfer it to whatever computer i need it on. Plus too many complaints about the Tosiba's webcam.

I didn't want to pay additional $150 to upgrade my Tosiba so I figure for $60 why not buy this one. I wasn't going to talk via web, but once i tried it loved it. Just brought this camera yesterday because my new lap top didn't have one.

I was able to use third party music software to record with a high quality vocal mic, but the first time I forgot to change my sound input to the vocal mic and the Lifecam Cinema (with the mic volume set up about 3/4 of the way) made a very clear recording of my voice with me about 3-4 feet from it.Īfter my initial frustration during install, I am glad I made this purchase and believe it was a good choice considering the quality and price. I spent a few hours doing a system restore, thinking something had happened that may have stopped my other cam from working and finally solved the problem by updating the Direct X drivers to the latest release from Microsoft.Īs a part time songwriter/vocalist and video buff, I ineeded a cam that would work well for Youtube video and be clear enough to handle any digital editing of the final product. I did a search online and there were several people having the same problem. Then after a re-install and plugging the USB cable back in I got unkown errors and a Lifecam close message. I did have some initial problems with my HP multimedia PC finding the cam after install, even though the hardware manager first said it was there. In it's highest HD resolution, it's so good I have to change the lighting around me so I don't look so old! I've had Logitech cams, Phillips cams, and older model MS cams and none of them compare to this one in image quality. After some online research and based on the other 3 reviews (Thank you, gentlemen!), I chose the Microsoft LifeCam Cinema Webcam. My webcam fell off my monitor hard onto the desk and ceased to function so I was in the market for a new one. There is no way to manually focus the camera hence it may not work for Mac/Linux (or at least it may not focus) or any computer w/o the LifeCam driver-I have not tested that myself yet but other reviews had said as much. I have used the camera with Netmeeting, MSN chat, and some proprietary collaboration software-works perfect for all. I have not yet used the microphone so I cannot comment on that.
It can focus on things as close as about 1 inch. Seems to have face-detection because there are a bunch of built-in motion tracking effects which are fun to play with (like one that puts a 3D hat on your head).Īuto-focus is fast. Flicker control is useful if pointing it at a TV or monitor. Auto-color works very well creating a natural look. There are not many controls here: zoom, pan, auto-color enhancements, brightness, and a flicker control. There are image controls that pop up in the system tray when you use the camera. The field of view is wider than most cameras and the wide-screen format increases it even more. Picture quality is outstanding even in low light. The foot is flexible and allows you to point the camera in almost any direction or attach it to a flat monitor. quarter and it is about as long as a door key. The best feature is the image quality which has high resolution and looks natural (unlike many cams which are grainy and tend to wash out or over saturate color).Ĭonstruction is high quality although I wish it had a lens cap for travel. In summary this is the best webcam I've ever used.
